Day 8
It's been a long journey, but we have reached the last leg of our voyage. We are in California!!! I can't believe it. After the depressing place we stayed at last night, we were all ready to pack it up and head out early this morning. We were on the road a little before nine. We had to stop to fuel up, and then it was the open road, only this time, the roads were twisty and steep and a little scary. We entered California and the Sierra mountain range a little after 11:30 this morning. The landscape changed dramatically and all of a sudden there were majestic mountain ranges all covered in pines, and rivers flowing, the water a sparkling blue. We stopped for lunch at the Donner sumit, the highest point going over the mountains. It was breathtaking. After that, it was all down hill, litterally. That is the most nerve-wracking driving ever. I didn't really even mind driving through the cities, but going down those roads made me nuts. We stopped just outside of Sacramento for the night. It's a nice campground, but rather noisy, lots of kids here. We are actually the quiet ones here for a change. Tomarrow mom and dad and I part, going our seperate ways, at least for awhile. I am so looking foward to being back on the central coast, I think I am still in shock, I wasn't sure if it was actually going to happen. Joanna has it all set up for us to be there with her and I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful friend as she has been to me over the years. I am grateful for all the support I had from everyone on the East coast durring a time in my life that I needed to be surrounded by family and loved ones. And now this is starting to sound like an acceptance speech when I really was being sincere. Anyway, to sum up: We made it to Ca./ It's been a long drive/ Glad to be back/ Thanks to everyone who made it possible(again with the acceptance speech) . I'll be back here when I get a chance, but if it's not too soon, it's because I'm having way too much fun!!
