Day 3

Well, I didn't get to post yesterday cause we had no reception, but here I am today, in Iowa at a really pretty campground and we have a connection. Our campsite yesterday was not too great, but I did take the kids out after dinner and let them play on the playground in the pouring rain. We all had such a good time. We were soaking wet by the time we were done. Nothing feels better than getting all wet in the rain and then drying off and putting on warm clothes. It was really nice. We drove through the rest of Ohio yesterday and stopped in Illinois last night. We made it through The rest of Illinois today, plus all of Indiana and partially through Iowa. We are almost halfway there. We stopped at a gas station this afternoon which was right on the edge of the Mississippi river and they had Chilly Cheese Fritos!! Thouse of you who know me well will know what that means to me. anyway, I was very excited about that. It rained most of the day untill we crossed over the Mississippi river, and then it just stopped and the clouds cleared up and it was beautiful and sunny. I checked the local weather on the radio and it is supposed to get down to 40 tonight. Brrrr. We had an adventure in showering with kids in a public shower. That was really not fun. Simon hated the shower, so I ended up swowering one-handed holding him cause he was crying so much. We made it O.K. though and we also learned that we will never do that again. We entered a new time zone so we gained an hour. We left our campsite at 8:00 this morning and we stopped at 5:20 this evening (local time, which is like 6:00)so we were on the road for almost 10 hours, not counting the times we stopped for potty breaks and lunch. All in all it is going pretty good. I seem to get my second wind around 4:00 in the afternoom and start feeling like I could drive for another 6 hours. The kids are doing good. I think they are getting used to the routine of driving all day long. I think we all are too. I've been nicknamed "wing-girl" and the kids are "wing-nut" (Tabitha, she's been collecting acorns) and "wing-tip" (Simon). well, I can't think of too much more to report. It was Saira's Birthday on saturday. Happy Birthday Saira!!! Hpoefully I will have rception tomarrow so I cam report. Talk to you soon.
